A Letter to One Interested in the Power of Gospel

Hi *****,

Since I am against selling the gospel, I would not want you to make anyone a profit by buying their books. There are none. All the books I have read, like Reisinger, etc, miss the truth. I also view Jon Zens as being in it to sell books. I sell [secular] books, but I won't sell the gospel. The correct interpretation of Corinthians is found here: http://www.newcovenanttheology.com/p/the-gospel-is-not-for-sale.html

I want to be approved by God. I sold one item one time and I would give the money back if I could find the people. It is wrong, and it is a robbing of blessing. It is not worth it. Paul had a very high standard.

Jon Zens says some very accurate things but comes at the bible as a scholar. I have never experienced a blessing from him even being around him for 5 years in the 70's. If you read his teaching online, you must understand that there is no conviction in his heart. He is sponsored by that other guy, Cliff Bjork, who believes the Protestants were saved.

He has a website, Searchingtogether.org and he literally has a subscription. He says it is non profit but Paul charged nothing and gave away the gospel for free! There is no blessing in charging a subscription fee for the gospel.  He could put the entire thing online and ask for donations, but no, he has a subscription fee. It is not a question of whether people can afford the subscription or not.

And if you don't think he waivers, in Oregon circa 1981, he told me that he studied all the scholars in Christian doctrine and they all preached the law. If he had conviction of the truth he would never have said that too me. I responded that it doesn't matter in the face of the truth. We parted ways soon after.

I guarantee you *****, Jon Zens has been the most frustrating and disappointing person I have ever known. He showed me doctrines of grace. He gave me the book from John Flavel and was expecting me to find nuggets of the gospel. I found things like "putting yourself in the way of grace" and other such baloney from the Puritan.

If you want to read what the gospel isn't, read Augustine, Luther, Menno and Calvin. Oh, and above all the Puritans. When the descendent of the Puritans, Charles Spurgeon said he sent folks throughout his congregation looking for those who had tears of guilt after he preached against this or that sin, I washed my hands of the protestants. They are lost, they are hell bound.

And I stand in doubt of Jon Zens even though it pains me to do so. I have to follow what I know is the truth.

The temptation to make money off the gospel is great, but it is wrong. It is forever, eternally, wrong.

Best wishes and keep in touch.
